There is a growing appreciation for diversity in the context of equality and equity in medicine. There are far too few oncologist educational programs that consider gender, race and ethnicity, and sexual orientation in the development and design of the curriculum, presenters, and intended audiences.

 

Health care teams should be focused on an inter-professional and interdisciplinary model that values the contributions of a range of perspectives in improving patient outcomes—including patient advocacy stakeholders. This program is designed to elevate and highlight the power of diversity and the goals of equity and equality in the cancer care team and will present both academic and thematic topics.
